House of Breadby James Webb “…It is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. The bread of God is the One who comes down from heaven. He gives life to the world. … I am the bread of life. No one who comes to me will ever go hungry.” – John 6:32b-33, 35a (NIRV) In relation to the title of this devotional, “House of Bread,” and in light of Jesus’ words cited above from John 6, the place where Jesus was born on this earth as a “babe in a manger,” in the city of Bethlehem, literally means, (you guessed...READ MORE

When Are You A Christian?by Olawale Ogunsola One sad thing about being a Christian NOWADAYS is that it attracts many adjectives that proves that there are many types of Christians. I don't know of many Jesus Christs. Followers of Jesus Christ were known as His disciples. They followed Him closely and intimately. Everywhere they went, people could see that they have been moving with Christ. They learnt to live according to His words and ways. "And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch." Acts 11:26(f) KJV. Note well that no adjective preceed the word "Christians". They were one body in christ. But today, the reverse is...READ MORE

Understanding Your Worth and Value: Defining what it means to be a Proverbs 31 Womanby stephanie reck We live in a society where worth and value is measured by our possessions, position, and power. So many women struggle against the strain of trying to keep up and compare themselves to other women who seem to have it all. As women, we feel we are not worthy and valuable when what we do would be looked-down by most of society, hence the all too familiar game of comparison and feelings of being unworthy crouch upon us. Especially for women, we can struggle as we try and find our worth and value from society that says conflicting...READ MORE

Just Turn it Over to Godby Jerry Ousley There it was – The entire truth of the matter! I thought I had done it already and that it was forever in the past and then once again there it was staring me right in the face and it wasn’t pretty. I’m talking about forgiveness. A man, well, a minister, had done not only my family wrong but several families. He had started a new church on the heels of problems in the old one that many of us had attended. There were hurt feelings and deep wounds. In the middle of all of that this...READ MORE

Dear Woman of God, revival is in your heartby Laetitia King The words entered my spirit as I was listening to an inspirational teaching at an annual intercessory conference. I was quite taken aback by the truth. Never before did I consider myself as a source of revival. To be honest, I felt nauseas from being pregnant and could barely keep my eyes open. My days consisted of managing a business, trying out new recipes and ironing my husband's shirts. I wasn't in full-time ministry and I didn't have a lot of time to spend in the presence of God. Yet, the words were unmistakably clear there is...READ MORE

Choose Your Friends Wiselyby Sue Darling The choice of friends are extremely important, because they influence us most strongly. If we want to be ready when Jesus comes for us personally when our hour arrives or at the rapture, we must be ready or He will not take us. A friend can influence you into gossip, excessive drinking, coarse language, fowl jokes etc. which will prevent you from going up to heaven with Jesus when He comes for you. We are told that if we gossip or slander anybody especially in Jesus's name He will not take us with Him to the wedding...READ MORE

Don't Call Me Goodby Donna Wittlif “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2, NIV). The last several weeks, heads have been rolling—heads of the rich and powerful in entertainment, government, and media. Many have trusted and even idolized these so-called foundations of our society. These men believed they would never fall. But fall they did, exposing the undeniable truth that in their own eyes they set themselves up as gods. They were immune to both God’s laws and man’s laws. Or so they thought. When they were exposed, exclamations of surprise and shock echoed through our land. How can...READ MORE

What Makes A Man?by Stephen Kimball What makes a man? In some cultures, a child is believed to make the transition to manhood at the ripe old age of 13. In the minds of many in this country the arbitrary age is 18, when you can enter military service. Some people believe the age to be 21, when you can legally drink alcohol. But one doesn’t just snap his fingers and suddenly find that he has become a man, when one day ago he was a child. Without question, being an adult male does not necessarily equal being a man. Sadly, many stretch...READ MORE

Entrepreneurship: Should It Be Promoted In Christian Ministries?by Angela Doreathy Watkins Why or why not should Entrepreneurship be promote in church ministry? The Prophet Jeremiah Purchased Real Estate: Jeremiah 32:7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,25,43,44 The Cross/Gospel/Ministry of Jesus Christ should not be compromised. There are lost souls, people in need, children being abused, and people struggling for power and wealth. But, also in this day of economic downturn this subject could be studied and looked at by someone who has a greater insight and have studied extensively or who have Theological Training. I would recommend to allow the Holy Spirit to lead/guide those in the Leadership Role(s) of the Christian Ministry to decide whether or not...READ MORE

How Often Should Christians Celebrate the Lord's Supper?by Max Aplin At the last meal the Lord Jesus ate before His crucifixion, He took some bread, broke it and gave it to His disciples to share. He also took a cup of wine and gave it to them to share. The bread and wine referred to His forthcoming death, the bread symbolising His body and the wine symbolising His blood (Matt 26:26-29; Mark 14:22-25; Luke 22:17-20). In 1 Corinthians 10:16-17 and 11:17-34, the apostle Paul makes it clear that Christians should periodically continue to re-enact this sharing of bread and wine to remember Jesus' death. Luke also implies that...READ MORE

Especially for women, we can struggle as we try and find our worth and value from society that says conflicting things to a women. First, be sexy and sexual, look like those air-brushed models, and second, be a career women and a full-time homemaker. If we as women are trying to accomplish all of these tasks, someone, even ourselves will suffer. Relationships will be strained, health can be compromised, and...
